Part 9___Twinkle, Twinkle Arren hands me a knife and we face Fate as she glares at us. It seems like she's melting. Did this amulet do something to her, too? I look at it and frown. It's just a bat with a star on its wing. I start to laugh, remembering the song that I killed Time with. I start to sing, "Twinkle, twinkle little bat, how I wonder where you're at. Up above the world you fly, like a tea tray in the sky." Two saucers appear in my hand. Where does the hat get them from? I smile to myself. My brain feels fuzzy as she talks, I can barely think for myself. Her voice fills my mind and I'm helpless, I can't do anything against her. "Look at the world around you, Bryn," she says in a sickly sweet voice. I no longer see the field and Arren and Time. I see a world, beautiful and clean. I open my eyes and see that the sun is high up already. How late have I slept? I walk into the kitchen and see Dinah, Chess, and my old master sharing the same pained, worried look. "What's wrong?" I never really did like fire. However, the flames did serve some sort of positive purpose as it devoured both logs of wood and old photos. I hardly had half a mind on the latter. It kept my body heat from plummeting through the floor was all that mattered. My eyes were glossy, I could tell, as I watched sister's teary face decay and my dearest's horrified expression burn. I had a whole fucking journal entry full of lost thoughts, why I should go bash my skull against a wall until I painted it a nice shade of scarlet, and other bat shit like that but then I realized that it wouldn't be worth writing it out because there would be no point in me adding more shit to what is already out there.
